Highlights: Extreme snow action, Off-Roading, crossing a river on a ford, exploring an old turf farm.

 

Do you want to experience Off-Road trailing mixed with sights and history? Then is the tour for you.

 

We will take you for an exciting journey into the vacated valley Barkárdalur where we will follow a rough 4x4 trail to the last farm in the valley, a very nice old traditional turf house farm Baugasel which got abandoned in 1965. Here we will be able to go in and take a look at how these old houses were built up and how some people lived until the middle of the last century. On the way there we will show you a nice hidden waterfall, we will possible have to cross a river on a ford, snow bridge or ice.

 

On the way back to Akureyri we will take you on a different road where we will stop by an traditional Icelandic country side church at Möðruvellir, if we are lucky then the church is open and we can go inside and take a closer look at it.
